Cheteshwar Pujara's Experience Crucial For India's Test Team Ahead Of Australia Clash
India is set to face Australia in the first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy on November 22. This match is crucial for both teams as it will influence their journey to the World Test Championship final. The competition promises intense action, with both sides eager to secure bragging rights.
India's recent performance has been under scrutiny following a 3-0 defeat by New Zealand. These consecutive losses at home have jeopardised India's chances of reaching the WTC final for a third time. Meanwhile, Australia holds the top spot in the WTC rankings and aims to further challenge India.

Robin Uthappa, a former Indian batter, believes Cheteshwar Pujara still has a role in India's Test team. Although Pujara hasn't played since the 2023 WTC final, his past successes in Australia during 2018-19 and 2020-21 highlight his value. Uthappa thinks Pujara's experience could benefit the squad.
"KL Rahul and Abhimanyu Easwaran can really play that anchor role, with everyone else revolving around them. Honestly, I still believe there's space for someone like Pujara in the Test team," Uthappa said during a virtual media interaction.
Uthappa also sees potential in KL Rahul and Abhimanyu Easwaran as anchors for India. Despite not excelling with India A, he believes they can contribute significantly by adopting a defensive strategy and occupying the crease effectively.
"We need someone defensive, someone who can play conventional, traditional Test cricket. As of now, KL Rahul and Abhimanyu Easwaran are the ones who can play that role," Uthappa added.
The upcoming series against Australia offers India an opportunity for redemption. With strategic adjustments and experienced players like Pujara potentially returning, India hopes to regain its standing on the international stage.
