Brett Lee Praises Rohit Sharma For Leading India To T20 World Cup Glory

Brett Lee extended his congratulations to Rohit Sharma and the Indian team for their victory in the T20 World Cup 2024 held in Barbados last month. The former Australian fast bowler praised India's performance, noting they played an ideal brand of T20 cricket during the ICC event.

"Big, big congratulations to India. Firstly, it was really good to see them and the emotion on the faces of those cricketers. Virat and Rohit have moved on from the game. There were players from the Australian cricket team who also hung up their boots. So, it was a swansong for a number of players from different countries around the world," Brett Lee told The Times of India.

Lee Lauds Sharma's T20 Win

Lee acknowledged that under Rohit Sharma's leadership, India appeared as a formidable unit. He mentioned that Rohit's captaincy significantly boosted his teammates' confidence throughout the tournament.

"One thing I will say is that India played the perfect style of cricket in the T20 World Cup. They looked like a strong side, to be very honest. Massive congratulations to Rohit Sharma and the Indian team. He led from the front in the tournament," he added.

Following their retirement from T20Is after the T20 World Cup 2024, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are currently enjoying some time away from cricket. Meanwhile, a young Indian squad recently secured a 4-1 series win against Zimbabwe in T20Is shortly after the World Cup.

The Men in Blue are now set to tour Sri Lanka for three T20Is and three ODIs starting on July 27. Gautam Gambhir, who has been newly appointed as the coach of the Indian cricket team, will begin his tenure with this tour. It remains uncertain if Rohit and Virat will participate in the ODI series.

Brett Lee's remarks highlight India's exceptional performance and leadership during the T20 World Cup 2024. His praise underscores how crucial effective captaincy is in boosting team morale and achieving success on such a significant stage.
