Brett Lee Urges Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma To Mentally Reset Before Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Brett Lee, a former Australian fast bowler, has shared important advice for Indian cricket players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. They are gearing up to face Australia in the eagerly awaited Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which kicks off on November 22 in Perth.

Lee, speaking on his YouTube channel, advised Kohli and Rohit to take a short break from cricket. This suggestion comes after India's recent 0-3 Test series defeat to New Zealand. He believes stepping away could help them reset both mentally and technically.

Lee Advises Kohli and Rohit for Australia Series

The Indian batsmen struggled against spin during the New Zealand series. Kohli and Rohit managed only 93 and 91 runs respectively over three matches. "The word on the streets has been India 3-0. But while I predicted 3-0, it was not the other way," Lee remarked about the unexpected home defeat.

"If you look at the Hitman [Rohit Sharma] and King Kohli - they got 90 runs each in the series. It's so unlike them. They are way better players than that," he noted. The duo faced criticism as India lost 37 wickets to New Zealand's spinners like Mitchell Santner, Ajaz Patel, and Glenn Phillips.

Lee suggested that an overly aggressive approach might have backfired for the Indian batters. He observed that Rohit often lost his wicket to pace early in his innings, indicating his usual skill against the new ball was absent.

To recover, Lee emphasized the importance of mentally detaching from recent setbacks and approaching Australia with renewed focus. "When you have a couple of bad runs back-to-back, that's when the pressure could set in," he explained.

Preparation for Australia's Pace Attack

"Someone like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma just have to go back to the drawing board. Work on that technique, freshen up, get away from cricket as much as they can and then hit the ground running when they go to Australia." Kohli is already in Australia while Rohit's participation in the first Test remains uncertain.

Lee highlighted that a refreshed mindset is crucial against Australia's strong pace attack. "I can promise you - these Australian fast bowlers will attack Rohit Sharma with that brand new ball," he warned, pointing out Australia's intent to exploit any technical or mental weaknesses.
