Bangla Tigers Mississauga climbed to the second spot on the points table, while Brampton Wolves returned to winning form in the fourth edition of Global T20 Canada. The action continued at the CAA Centre, Brampton, with high-octane cricket in its second week.

On Wednesday (July 31), Bangla Tigers Mississauga secured a 4-wicket victory over Surrey Jaguars. Later, Brampton Wolves achieved a 6-wicket win against Vancouver Knights, getting their campaign back on track.

Wolves, Tigers Win in GT20 Canada

Namibian star David Wiese's all-round display (27 not out and 2/17) was crucial for Bangla Tigers Mississauga. They defeated Surrey Jaguars by four wickets and moved up to second place in the standings.

Surrey opted to bat first but were bowled out for 101 in 19.5 overs. Despite a strong bowling effort led by West Indies veteran Sunil Narine, who took three wickets, Mississauga chased down the target with an over to spare.

Mississauga now has six points from three wins in four matches. Surrey sits fourth with two points from one win in three games.

Bangladesh pacer Shoriful Islam was the standout bowler for Mississauga, taking 3/11. Fellow Bangladeshis Shakib Al Hasan and Wiese also contributed with two wickets each.

Shoriful initiated Surrey's collapse by dismissing Narine, reducing them to 46/8 by the tenth over. Marcus Stoinis (36) and Logan van Beek (31) were the only Surrey batsmen to offer resistance, helping their team reach a three-figure score.

Brampton Wolves faced Vancouver Knights later that day. Electing to bat first, Vancouver posted a competitive 149/4 thanks to late contributions from Richie Berrington (38 not out) and Asif Ali (36 not out off 17 balls).

The Knights were struggling at 90/4 by the 16th over when Berrington and Ali's unbeaten 59-run partnership provided much-needed momentum.

In response, David Warner led Brampton's chase with a quickfire 25 off 20 balls before a series of wickets threatened their progress.

The Australian duo of Beau Webster (49 not out) and Nick Hobson (37 not out) then steadied the innings with an unbeaten 86-run fifth-wicket stand, securing Brampton's second win in four matches.

Mississauga encountered early trouble during their chase as opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz fell to Ben Lister in the first over. Narine then took three quick wickets, reducing them to 31/4 by the ninth over.

However, Wiese led a fightback with an unbeaten 27 as Mississauga's lower order held firm for the win.

The Global T20 Canada continues to deliver thrilling cricket action as teams vie for top spots on the points table. Fans can expect more exciting matches as the tournament progresses.
