Billie Jean King Cup Tie Postponed Following Severe Flooding In Malaga
The Billie Jean King Cup match between Spain and Poland was postponed due to severe weather in southern Spain. Originally set for Wednesday at 17:00 local time, the game was delayed after heavy rain led to flooding in Malaga, the event's location.
The International Tennis Federation (ITF), responsible for organising the tournament, decided to postpone the match based on advice from local authorities. They stressed the importance of ensuring safety for players, staff, and spectators amid the extreme weather conditions.

"This decision has been made based on guidance from the relevant authorities to ensure the health and safety of all participants and attendees," stated the ITF. "We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and cooperation."
The rescheduled tie will now occur on Friday at 09:00 GMT. This change also affects Great Britain's match against Germany, initially planned for Thursday, which will now be played on Friday at 16:00 GMT.
Just two weeks ago, flash floods hit eastern Spain hard. Now, areas like Malaga are again under alert due to another weather front bringing heavy rains. Despite these disruptions, the Billie Jean King Cup continues indoors at Palacios de Deportes Jose Maria Martin Carpena, a venue designed to handle such weather issues.
Spain's Paula Badosa was set to lead her team against Poland. The recent floods have personally affected her as she stands in solidarity with those impacted by donating 50% of her recent prize money to flood victims in Valencia.
