IPL 2024 And Tata Group's Enhanced Tree Planting Drive: A Leap In Cricket's Green Initiative
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has once again partnered with Tata Group to plant trees for every dot ball bowled during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Playoff stages. This initiative, which began in the 2023 season, aims to plant over 1 lakh saplings this year.
As part of India's green initiative, BCCI and Tata Group will plant 500 trees across India for every dot ball bowled during the IPL 2024 Qualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2, and the Final. This year's campaign has surpassed the previous season's numbers despite setting records for most sixes and fours.

In Qualifier 1, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, resulting in 73 dot balls and 36,500 tree saplings being planted.
During the Eliminator at the same venue, Rajasthan Royals (RR) beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), with a total of 74 dot balls leading to 37,000 trees being planted. Trent Boult contributed significantly with 14 dot balls.
In Qualifier 2 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, SRH defeated RR, resulting in 96 dot balls and 48,000 trees being planted.
In the IPL 2024 final at the same venue in Chennai, KKR beat SRH again to clinch their third IPL title. A total of 80 dot balls were bowled, leading to 40,000 trees being planted.

A total of 323 dot balls were delivered during the IPL 2024 playoff stage across Qualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2, and the Final. Consequently, BCCI and Tata Group will plant a total of 1,61,500 trees.
Bowlers with Most Dot Balls in IPL 2024 Playoff Stage
T Natarajan from Sunrisers Hyderabad bowled the most dot balls in the IPL 2024 playoffs with a total of 26 dots in three innings. He was followed by Kolkata Knight Riders' Mitchell Starc with 22 dot balls in two innings.
Kolkata Knight Riders' Harshit Rana also contributed with 20 dot balls, while Rajasthan Royals' Trent Boult finished the playoff stage with 21 dot deliveries.

Trees Planted During IPL 2023 Season
A total of 294 dot balls were bowled during the IPL 2023 playoffs - Qualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2 and Finals - resulting in a total of 1,47,000 trees being planted as part of BCCI and Tata Group's India Green initiative.
