BCCI Facilitates Chartered Flight For Stranded Journalists Post-T20 Victory

In a significant move by the BCCI, Indian media members have been invited to travel with the Indian cricket team on a chartered flight from Barbados to Delhi. This initiative was spearheaded by BCCI secretary Jay Shah to assist journalists stranded in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl.

The Indian cricket team clinched the T20 World Cup 2024 at Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday, June 29. Due to the hurricane, all players, their families, support staff, and BCCI members were confined to the team hotel as the airport in Barbados was shut down.

Journalists covering the T20 World Cup final also found themselves stuck on the island as flights were cancelled because of adverse weather conditions. The BCCI's gesture provided much-needed relief for these journalists.

Instead of waiting for commercial flights to resume, journalists will now travel back home with the victorious team on the same chartered flight. This decision has been widely appreciated by those affected.

Flight Delays and Arrival Plans

The special flight arranged by the BCCI arrived late in Barbados from the USA, causing a delay in Team India's departure on Tuesday. The team is now expected to land in Delhi around 6:00 AM on Thursday.

A large number of fans are anticipated at the airport to welcome the Indian team, which has ended a 13-year wait for an ICC World Cup trophy. There is also a possibility that they might meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi upon their arrival on Thursday morning.
