BCCI Announces Venue Shifts For India In Bangladesh Test And England T20Is

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed a revised schedule for Team India's 2024-25 home season, starting in September.

Changes include a new Test venue for the Bangladesh series and venue swaps for the T20I series against England.

Venue Changes for India's Cricket Season

The first T20I against Bangladesh, originally planned for Dharamsala on October 6, will now take place in Gwalior. This shift is due to renovation work at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association's dressing rooms.

This match will mark the first international game at the new Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior. The last international event here was in 2010 when Sachin Tendulkar scored a historic double century against South Africa. Fans are eagerly anticipating this significant event.

There has also been a change in venues for the first and second T20Is against England. Initially, Chennai was set to host the first T20I, but it will now host the second one. Kolkata will host the opening T20I instead of the second match. The dates remain unchanged: January 22, 2025, for the first T20I and January 25, 2025, for the second match.

This adjustment was made following a request from Kolkata Police to the Cricket Association of Bengal due to their Republic Day commitments. The BCCI has accommodated this request to ensure smooth conduct of both events.

The updated schedule reflects BCCI's efforts to address logistical challenges while ensuring fans get to enjoy uninterrupted cricket action. These changes highlight BCCI's flexibility and commitment to maintaining an exciting cricket season despite unforeseen circumstances.
