Bangladesh Levels Series With 68-Run Victory Over Afghanistan In Second ODI
Bangladesh levelled the ODI series against Afghanistan with a 68-run win in the second match. After losing the first game, Bangladesh bounced back to set a target of 253 and restricted Afghanistan to 184. This victory sets up an exciting decider in Sharjah on Monday.
Najmul Hossain Shanto played a pivotal role for Bangladesh, scoring 76 runs off 119 balls. His innings provided much-needed stability after Tanzid Hasan and Soumya Sarkar's quick starts. Despite challenges from Afghanistan's spinners, Shanto's performance held the innings together until his dismissal in the 41st over.

Jaker Ali made an impactful debut with an unbeaten 37 off 27 balls, adding crucial runs towards the end. Nasum Ahmed also contributed with a swift 25 off 24 balls. Their efforts helped Bangladesh reach a total of 252/7 in their allotted overs.
Afghanistan's bowlers showed potential, especially Nangeyalia Kharote who took 3/28 and Rashid Khan who was economical with figures of 2/32. However, Fazalhaq Farooqi's expensive spell of 0/69 proved costly for Afghanistan.
Afghanistan faced early setbacks while chasing the target as Taskin Ahmed and Nasum Ahmed dismissed Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sediqullah Atal respectively. A promising partnership between Rahmat Shah (52) and Hashmatullah Shahidi (17) offered some hope but was short-lived.
A mix-up led to Rahmat Shah's run-out, followed by Hashmatullah’s dismissal, leaving Afghanistan at a precarious position of 119/5. The Bangladeshi bowlers maintained pressure, with Nasum taking three wickets and Mehidy Hasan Miraz claiming two crucial dismissals.
Upcoming Decider in Sharjah
The series is now tied, leading to an anticipated final match in Sharjah. Both teams will aim to leverage their strengths; Bangladesh will rely on their spin attack while Afghanistan needs to address their middle-order vulnerabilities. The upcoming match promises intense competition as both sides vie for series victory.
Despite some resistance from lower-order batsmen like Gulbadin Naib (26) and Rashid Khan (14), Afghanistan was bowled out for 184 in just over 43 overs. This defeat highlighted areas for improvement ahead of the decisive encounter.
