Babar Azam Surpasses Rohit Sharma In Elite T20I Record, May Overtake Virat Kohli Soon
Pakistan captain Babar Azam has surpassed India's Rohit Sharma to become the second-highest run-scorer in T20 Internationals.
Babar reached this milestone during Pakistan's second T20I match against England at Edgbaston on Saturday, May 25. He scored 32 runs from 26 balls, hitting four boundaries, although Pakistan did not secure a win.

With this achievement, Babar has overtaken the India captain to emerge as the second-highest scorer in the shortest form of international cricket.
Rohit Sharma has played 151 matches, scoring 3974 runs at a strike rate of 139.97. In comparison, Babar now has 3987 runs in 118 matches and 111 innings, with a strike rate of 129.91. India's batting star Virat Kohli remains the leading run-scorer in T20Is with 4037 runs.
Babar can start the T20 World Cup with the most runs in the format if he scores 51 runs in the next two T20I matches against England.
T20 World Cup Prospects
Pakistan were the beaten finalists in the most recent edition of the T20 World Cup in 2022. As the upcoming tournament approaches, Babar will be aiming to lead his team towards a successful campaign.
Group A Dynamics
India and Pakistan both find themselves in Group A, with their flagship encounter set to take place on June 9 in New York. Apart from these two Asian giants, USA, Ireland, and Canada are the other three teams. With the top three run-getters in close proximity to each other, it remains to be seen who will emerge as the top scorer in the tournament.
