Axar Patel Sets Unique Record For India Against Pakistan In T20 World Cup
Axar Patel has secured a unique record with the bat during the T20 World Cup 2024 match against Pakistan on Sunday, June 9.
India faced a challenging start against arch-rivals Pakistan. Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were dismissed early in the innings. Kohli managed to score only 4 runs, while the Indian captain was sent back to the pavilion after scoring just 13.

Axar Patel was sent to the crease at no. 4 ahead of Suryakumar Yadav. The all-rounder played a decent knock, hitting a few boundaries and building a much-needed partnership with Rishabh Pant.
Patel and Pant added 39 runs for the third wicket before Patel was dismissed after scoring 20 runs in 18 deliveries as Naseem Shah bowled him out. Despite scoring just 20 runs, Axar Patel now holds a unique record for India against Pakistan.
Axar Patel is now the highest scorer for India as a no. 4 batter against Pakistan in T20 World Cups. Previously, Yuvraj Singh held this record, having scored 19 runs against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2012 while batting at number 4.
Although Axar has a record to his name, both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma missed their chances to top the T20I run-scorer chart. India captain Rohit Sharma has accumulated 4039 runs, while Virat Kohli has 4042 runs. Currently, Pakistan captain Babar Azam leads with 4067 runs.
