Starc Addresses Hazlewood's Comments Amidst T20 World Cup Dynamics
Mitchell Starc has addressed Josh Hazlewood's comments regarding England's T20 World Cup exit, suggesting they were exaggerated by the media. Following Australia's victory over Scotland on Saturday, which kept England's hopes alive, Starc clarified the situation.
England's rain-affected win over Namibia on Saturday meant their progression to the Super 8s depended on Australia's performance against Scotland. With Australia already securing their place in the next round, a win over Scotland would keep England in the tournament, while a loss would see Scotland advance.

Scotland set a target of 181, aided by six dropped catches from Australia. Travis Head and Marcus Stoinis excelled with the bat, scoring 68 and 59 respectively, leading Australia to victory with two balls to spare.
Earlier in the week, Hazlewood suggested that Australia might benefit from ensuring they do not meet England later in the tournament. He speculated about dragging out the match against Scotland. However, Starc insists these comments were made in jest.
"I think a throwaway line has been blown right out of proportion by you lot," Starc said, addressing the media. "You don't mess around with mother cricket and worry about other results. We're here to win games. It's international cricket."
England's Position
With England now on the other side of the draw, Starc noted that it does not significantly impact Australia's next three games. Only one Super Eight spot remains after Scotland's elimination from the tournament.

Scotland's Performance
Brandon McMullen, who scored an impressive 60 off 34 balls for Scotland, praised Australia's competitive spirit. "They're always going to put up a good fight," he said. "They're never just going to roll over and let you win. I'm glad that it was a close game today."
McMullen highlighted that Scotland demonstrated their ability to compete at a high level against some of the best players in the world.
This victory ensures Australia remains focused on winning games rather than strategising about future opponents. The T20 World Cup continues to deliver intense and competitive matches as teams vie for a spot in the Super 8s.
