Tempers Flare Between Rahmanullah Gurbaz And Marcus Stoinis In Thrilling Cricket Match
AUS vs AFG: Tempers flared between Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Marcus Stoinis as Australia and Afghanistan produced a thrilling encounter in the Super 8 Group 1 match at the Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown, St Vincent on Sunday, June 23.
Australia needed just a win to secure a semi-final spot alongside India. However, Afghanistan had other plans. Chasing 149, Australia were bundled out for 127, avenging their Wankhede defeat at the World Cup 2023.

The foundation for Afghanistan's victory was laid by opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who top-scored with 60 off 49 on a challenging pitch. His opening stand of 118 runs with Ibrahim Zadran (51) was crucial in keeping Afghanistan's semi-final hopes alive.
Frustrated by the partnership, Stoinis confronted Gurbaz in the 16th over. After going wicketless for 15 overs, Stoinis exchanged words with Gurbaz, who responded by hitting a six over cow corner on the next ball.

Gurbaz followed up with a double before being caught by David Warner at deep square leg. Stoinis gave him a send-off by pointing towards the dressing room with flapping hands.
Later in the second innings, Gurbaz returned the favour as soon as Stoinis walked in after Australia's third wicket fell during the powerplay. The wicket-keeper sledged Stoinis even before he could take his guard.
In the 11th over, Stoinis top-edged a Gulbadin Naib delivery, and Gurbaz took a solid catch after running backwards. He let out a massive roar upon completing the catch.

The dismissal of in-form Marcus Stoinis was pivotal. Australia soon found themselves at 85/5 in just over twelve overs. Afghanistan did not allow Australia to bat their full quota of overs and secured a win by dismissing them for just 127 runs.
