Anvay Dravid Selected For Karnataka's U16 Vijay Merchant Trophy Squad Starting December 6
Anvay Dravid, the son of former Indian cricket captain Rahul Dravid, is making waves in Karnataka's cricket scene. Recently, he was included in the 35-member probable list for the Karnataka squad in the upcoming Under-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy, which begins on December 6.
His selection highlights his potential and achievements at the junior level. Anvay is one of three wicketkeepers shortlisted, competing with Aditya Jha and Joy James for a spot. This competition underscores his promising talent.

Anvay recently impressed with an unbeaten double century (200*) for Bangalore Zone against Tumkur Zone in the KSCA Under-16 Inter-Zonal tournament. This performance not only showcased his batting skills but also emphasized his leadership qualities, as he previously captained Karnataka's Under-14 team.
Meanwhile, Anvay's elder brother Samit Dravid is also progressing in Karnataka cricket. Samit, a medium-pace all-rounder, is part of the Karnataka squad competing in the Cooch Behar Trophy against Baroda. In a recent match, Samit scored a determined 71 off 141 balls with 11 fours, although Karnataka lost to Baroda by an innings and 212 runs.
The coaching staff for Karnataka's Under-16 squad in the Vijay Merchant Trophy will be led by former state players Kunal Kapoor and Adithya B Sagar. They will serve as head coach and bowling coach respectively. Their experience is expected to greatly benefit young players aiming to excel in the tournament.
In another development, Rahul Dravid, as Rajasthan Royals head coach, discussed the franchise's retention strategy for IPL 2025. He confirmed that Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson played a key role in retention talks.
IPL Retention Strategy
Sanju Samson, known for his wicketkeeping and leadership skills, was retained along with core members Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer, and Sandeep Sharma. This decision reflects their importance to the team's future plans.
Anvay Dravid's journey mirrors his father's legacy while carving out his own path in cricket. As both brothers continue to develop their skills within Karnataka cricket circles, they carry forward a family tradition of excellence on the field.
