Alzarri Joseph Receives Two-Match Suspension From Cricket West Indies After Disagreement With Captain Shai Hope
Alzarri Joseph has been handed a two-match suspension by Cricket West Indies (CWI) following an altercation with captain Shai Hope. This incident occurred during the third ODI against England on November 6 in Barbados.
Joseph's public disagreement with Hope over field placements led to his reprimand. The confrontation took place while the West Indies were bowling, and despite the tension, they secured an eight-wicket victory to win the series.

The conflict escalated when Joseph expressed his displeasure with Hope's field settings during his second over. A heated exchange ensued before the fourth over, prompting umpires to intervene and resume play.
Despite taking a wicket shortly after, Joseph remained visibly upset. His frustration peaked when he left the field after completing his over, leaving West Indies temporarily with ten players as head coach Darren Sammy attempted to calm him.
In a post-match press conference, Sammy described Joseph's actions as unacceptable. On November 7, CWI issued a statement condemning Joseph's conduct as falling short of their "standards of professionalism."
"Alzarri's behavior did not align with the core values that Cricket West Indies upholds. Such conduct cannot be overlooked, and we have taken decisive action to ensure the gravity of the situation is fully acknowledged," stated CWI director of cricket Miles Bascombe.
Joseph's Apology
Joseph later issued an apology through a CWI statement. "I recognize that my passion got the best of me," he said. "I have personally apologized to captain Shai Hope and my teammates and management."
"I also extend my sincerest apologies to the West Indies fans - understand that even a brief lapse in judgment can have a far-reaching impact, and I deeply regret any disappointment caused."
Upcoming Matches
The upcoming cricket schedule sees England and West Indies facing off in a five-match Twenty20 series starting November 9 at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown. While West Indies has yet to announce their squad for these matches, England will welcome back their captain Jos Buttler.
