Young Cricketer Dies From Electrocution In Delhi, Calls For Safety Measures Intensify
A 13-year-old boy tragically lost his life after being electrocuted while playing cricket in the Ranhola area of outer Delhi, police reported on Sunday.
"We received a PCR call on Saturday at 1.27 pm at the Ranhola police station regarding the death of a boy due to electrocution," stated Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer) Jimmy Chiram.

The boy was playing cricket in Kotla Vihar Phase-2 when he came into contact with an iron pole carrying electricity to a gaushala, according to DCP Chiram. He was immediately taken to DDU Hospital by a PCR van, where he was declared brought dead upon arrival.
Police have registered an FIR under Section 106 (1) of the BNS and have commenced an investigation into the incident.
The victim's mother, Anita Devi, has called for strict action against both the gaushala and the Power Department. She explained that her son, who was a seventh-grade student at a government school, had gone to play cricket with friends on Saturday. He approached the gaushala to retrieve a ball and received an electric shock from a pole carrying wires to the cowshed.
"Many small children go to the ground to play cricket and this can happen to anyone. When my son was dying, no one came forward to rescue him. My elder son was shouting there to save his life, but not even a single person asked the gaushala members to turn the power off," she said.
Political Reaction and Call for Accountability
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva expressed his sorrow over the boy's death and demanded an investigation into the matter. In his statement, Sachdeva highlighted that this incident marked the seventh such death due to negligence by power companies in Delhi.
"Such cases have become a case of criminal maintenance negligence of the power discoms. In all the cases of deaths due to electric shock this year, a case of criminal negligence should be registered against the power discoms concerned," Sachdeva stated.
This tragic event underscores the urgent need for accountability and improved safety measures around electrical installations in public areas. The ongoing investigation aims to determine responsibility and prevent future incidents.
