ZHO Offers Internationally Accredited Autism Care And Rehabilitation For 462
On World Autism Awareness Day, the Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO) showcased its comprehensive care and rehabilitation programs for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). With 462 registered students across Abu Dhabi Emirate, ZHO's efforts are a testament to their commitment to supporting this community. They have called for enhanced collaboration and research to delve into the causes of ASD and to reduce its impact on children.
As part of their ongoing initiatives, ZHO announced the organization of the International Autism Conference titled "Challenges and Solutions" set for April 2024. This event aims to build upon the successes in care and rehabilitation for those with autism. Additionally, a specialized scientific journal focusing on autism research and treatment methodologies will be launched, aiming to ease the challenges faced by individuals with ASD.
Abdullah Abdul Aleem Al Hameedan, Secretary-General of ZHO, underscored the UAE's dedication to ensuring a dignified life for all, particularly for those with autism. The nation has established specialized centers aimed at the care, rehabilitation, and societal integration of individuals with autism. Al Hameedan highlighted the critical role of collaborative efforts among institutions, universities, and families in enhancing awareness and support for individuals with autism and their families.
The Abu Dhabi Autism Centre, under ZHO's umbrella, offers a wide array of services for students with ASD. These include education, rehabilitation, early intervention, and therapeutic interventions, all designed based on internationally recognized methods. Similarly, the Al Ain Autism Centre caters to a broad segment of Al Ain's population, providing specialized care for children with autism spectrum disorder.
Mouza Ahmed Al Salami, Director of the Al Ain Autism Centre, emphasized the importance of education and awareness about autism within the community. The focus is on integrating students with autism into various activities alongside their peers in government schools to foster acceptance and understanding.
