Zayed Bin Hamdan Meets Azerbaijan’s Minister Of Economy To Discuss Investment Opportunities

H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan recently engaged in discussions with Mikayil Jabbarov, Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy. The meeting took place during the UAE delegation's visit to Azerbaijan. Their conversation centred on expanding economic and investment ties between private sectors in both nations, focusing on advanced technology, digital transformation, energy, natural resources, and innovation.

The UAE delegation included notable figures such as Syed Basar Shueb from IHC, Ali Al Rashdi from International Resources Holding (IRH), Ajay Bhatia from Sirius International Holding, and Fouad Darwish from Palms Sports. These representatives participated in various meetings aimed at enhancing economic cooperation and fostering long-term partnerships between the UAE and Azerbaijan.

International Resources Holding (IRH) held discussions with Azerbaijani counterparts to explore collaboration in mining projects. They focused on introducing advanced exploration techniques and sustainable practices to boost Azerbaijan's natural resources sector. This initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen economic ties between the two countries.

Sirius International Holding also engaged with Azerbaijani entities to explore opportunities in digital transformation for electricity and water sectors. They aim to support Azerbaijan's energy transition by developing smart grid infrastructure. The company highlighted its commitment through a US$480 million smart gas network project executed by its subsidiary, Esyasoft, alongside SOCAR.

Palms Sports explored avenues to enhance cooperation within the sports sector with various Azerbaijani institutions. As the official sponsor of Neftçi Football Club, Palms Sports aims to expand its presence in Azerbaijan by promoting collaboration in football, self-defence sports, community programmes, and athlete development.

The meeting underscored the importance of ongoing efforts to develop existing partnerships and leverage both countries' potential for new projects that drive economic growth and align with sustainable development goals. This engagement is part of a series of interactions by the UAE delegation with Azerbaijani entities to bolster economic collaboration.
