World Sports Summit In Dubai: Sheikh Mansoor Reviews Inaugural Preparations And Global Agenda
The World Sports Summit, organised by the Dubai Sports Council, will take place at Madinat Jumeirah on 29 and 30 December under the slogan ‘Uniting the World Through Sports.’ The inaugural event is set to gather more than 1,500 participants, including global sports stars, senior officials, and representatives of international federations and organisations.
The summit is being held under the directives and patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai. The gathering is positioned as a major addition to Dubai’s international sports calendar.
H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, stated that the World Sports Summit aligns with Dubai’s wider vision of using sport to support global progress and human development. H.H. Sheikh Mansoor said the event strengthens the emirate’s commitment to creating platforms that support dialogue and cooperation through sport.
During a meeting of the Dubai Sports Council’s Board of Directors, H.H. Sheikh Mansoor highlighted the strategic importance of launching this new platform. "In the context of Dubai’s approach to hosting global platforms that make a difference in diverse fields such as government work, leadership and artificial intelligence, among others, we are proud to present a new global summit in the sports sector, which embodies the vision of our leadership in promoting sports as a positive force that transcends borders, a driver of development, and an effective tool in building a better future for humanity," H.H. Sheikh Mansoor stated.
H.H. Sheikh Mansoor reviewed ongoing preparations for hosting the first edition of the World Sports Summit, which is designed as a unified forum for international dialogue on the future of sport. The summit agenda will address governance, professional management, infrastructure, athlete development, talent systems and the use of artificial intelligence in sport.
Setting out the broader context, H.H. Sheikh Mansoor said: "The World Sports Summit represents the culmination of a phase of exceptional institutional work and qualitative achievements for the sports sectors in the UAE and the region. It is also the beginning of a new phase that lays clearer foundations for the future of sports and unites international efforts towards developing this vital sector in a way that serves humanity and society," H.H. Sheikh Mansoor said.
H.H. Sheikh Mansoor further explained how discussions will be structured across key themes. "The summit will be a global platform that brings together leaders and decision-makers to discuss the current state of sports and anticipate its future trajectories, whether in terms of governance and professional management, developing athletes’ performances, building integrated systems for training and infrastructure, attracting and nurturing talent, or utilising artificial intelligence applications to advance the sports system," he added.
Also present at the Board meeting were Khalfan Belhoul, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, and Board members Ali Al Mutawa, Ahmed Al Khaja, Ismail Al Hashemi, and Saeed Hareb, Secretary-General of the Council. They reviewed operational plans covering logistics, protocol, programme design and coordination with international sports bodies.
Inspecting the preparations, H.H. Sheikh Mansoor praised the efforts of the organising teams who are working with national Olympic committees, international federations and major event organisers. H.H. Sheikh Mansoor noted that Dubai’s infrastructure, experienced workforce and organisational capabilities support the city’s readiness to host the World Sports Summit at a global standard.
During the meeting, officials confirmed that organisational arrangements for the World Sports Summit are in place. Plans include reception protocols for distinguished speakers and guests, scheduling of sessions, and arrangements for accompanying activities led by the Dubai Sports Council. The summit is intended to strengthen Dubai’s position as a hub for dialogue on sport’s social and economic role.
