World Congress On Rehabilitation 2024 In Abu Dhabi Focuses On Employment For People Of Determination

The World Congress on Rehabilitation (WCR) 2024 is set to take place from 23rd to 25th September at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). This marks its inaugural event in the Middle East. Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO), the congress will focus on "Work and Employment."

Coinciding with ZHO's 20th anniversary, the event is organised in collaboration with RI Global and the International Social Security Association (ISSA). The Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Bureau at the Department of Culture and Tourism, along with ADNEC, are also involved. The congress aims to tackle global challenges faced by People of Determination, particularly in integrating into the workforce.

More than 190 speakers, including 30 from the UAE, will present 70 scientific studies across over 30 sessions. The event expects over 500 participants from 70 countries, featuring experts, academics, and researchers in rehabilitation and healthcare. Abdullah Al Humaidan, ZHO Secretary-General, emphasised that hosting this congress highlights the UAE’s achievements in empowering People of Determination as vital contributors to national progress.

Al Humaidan mentioned that significant topics would be discussed with input from international policymakers. Germany will share its advanced experience in empowering People of Determination. A special session will address challenges faced by women of determination in employment. The conference will also cover inclusive workplaces, training, rehabilitation, and policy enhancements.

The congress will pay particular attention to individuals with complex disabilities, including mental health conditions. It aims to promote inclusive work environments and improve policies related to training and rehabilitation. Additionally, ZHO plans to launch the "Emirati-Russian Psychology Dictionary," a pioneering initiative developed in partnership with Ural Federal University in Russia.

This gathering serves as a platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences among global leaders in rehabilitation. It underscores the importance of creating equal opportunities for People of Determination worldwide. By addressing these critical issues, WCR 2024 seeks to foster a more inclusive society where everyone can contribute meaningfully.
