WETEX 2024: A Global Platform For Sustainability In The Oil And Gas Sector
The 26th WETEX edition will gather global oil and gas companies, experts, and decision-makers. They will discuss sustainable practices and technologies to enhance the sector's sustainability. Key topics include reducing flaring, carbon capture, efficiency improvements, and renewable energy integration. These efforts aim to cut emissions and support a green economy transition, aligning with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals 2030 for environmental protection.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA and Founder and Chairman of WETEX, stated, "WETEX has played a leading role as a global platform for exchanging best practices and expertise, as well as exploring the latest technologies and innovative solutions in the energy, water, environment and sustainability sectors. Given the importance of traditional energy markets as long-standing suppliers for the world’s economies over the past decades, and their continued role in meeting energy demand to keep pace with economic and population growth, it is crucial to stay ahead of developments and prepare for new challenges facing the global energy sector, including oil and gas. Ensuring energy security and diversifying its sources is essential for continued economic and social growth, and for accelerating the transition towards a low-carbon economy."

The Future Energy Landscape Forum at WETEX 2024 will span three days. Organised by Dragon Oil in partnership with the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), it will focus on sustainability strategies in oil and gas. Discussions will cover decarbonisation, efficiency enhancement, renewable integration, and waste management innovations. The forum aims to promote sustainable practices globally within this sector.
Ali Rashid Al Jarwan, CEO of Dragon Oil, expressed enthusiasm about highlighting sustainability's significance in their industry. He said, "We are excited to highlight the importance of sustainability in our industry. WETEX 2024 provides a platform for industry leaders to discuss transformative energy solutions. We invite attendees of WETEX to participate in the panel discussions and workshops that will be presented by our most notable experts."
The forum will showcase innovative solutions shaping oil and gas's future. It will address challenges like decarbonisation while exploring renewable energy innovations. Topics include the carbon circular economy and adopting blue or green hydrogen as clean energy sources. The event aims to advance energy diversification within this vital industry.
The first day will focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions innovatively within oil and gas operations. The second day highlights integrating renewable sources into these industries for enhanced sustainability outcomes. Finally, effective waste management strategies will be explored on day three.
Saif Humaid Al Falasi from ENOC shared his thoughts: "As a leading integrated global energy player, we are proud to have been participating at WETEX for over a decade now and are delighted to partner with DEWA for the event’s 26th edition. We look forward to another edition of thought-provoking discussions that are critical to today’s evolving environment."
