Join As A Volunteer At The 15th Edition Of Sharjah Children's Reading Festival

The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), in collaboration with the Sharjah Volunteer Centre, has recently opened its doors for volunteer registration across all nationalities for the upcoming 15th edition of the Sharjah Children's Reading Festival (SCRF). Scheduled from 1st to 12th May at the Sharjah Expo Centre, this event is set to bring a plethora of workshops, panels, and a showcase of the latest in children’s literature from both local and international fronts. This initiative aims to bolster children’s engagement with educational and knowledge resources.

Volunteering has been highlighted by the SBA as a cornerstone of the festival's success since its inception, embodying the essence of community and corporate collaboration in support of Sharjah’s cultural endeavors. The authority emphasized that volunteering is not only a testament to Emirati social values but also a platform for young individuals to hone their skills in managing large-scale events and serving public needs. It offers an invaluable opportunity for volunteers to gain hands-on experience, knowledge, and expertise through direct engagement with attendees, exhibitors, and participants.

Individuals aged between 18 to 45 years with an interest in volunteering for this enriching cultural event are encouraged to sign up through the dedicated link: https://sssd-volunteer.shj.ae/volunteers/opportunity_details/15241. Volunteers will have the option to serve in either morning shifts from 9:00 to 15:00 or evening shifts from 15:00 to 21:00 over the course of the 12-day festival.

Volunteers play a crucial role in facilitating the smooth operation of the SCRF. Their responsibilities range from providing essential support and assistance to festival participants and visitors, addressing technical support and finance team needs, to guiding visitors about the festival’s extensive list of activities, schedule, and venues within the Sharjah Expo Centre.

The previous edition of SCRF saw the participation of 150 volunteers, contributing significantly to its success. The festival annually features an array of events designed to engage children and young adults. These include interactive workshops led by experts aimed at identifying and nurturing young talents. Additionally, the festival serves as a platform for children’s authors, illustrators, and publishers to connect while also celebrating achievements through various awards such as the Sharjah Children’s Book Illustration Award, Sharjah Children’s Book Award, Sharjah Audio Book Award, and Sharjah Books for Visually Impaired Children Award.

This initiative not only underscores SBA's commitment to fostering a love for reading among young minds but also highlights the importance of volunteerism in enriching cultural projects within the community. As SCRF continues to grow each year, it remains a pivotal event in promoting literacy and creative expression among children and young adults.
