Vice President’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup Begins Tomorrow At Shabab Al Ahli Club In Dubai

The eighth Vice President’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup is set to commence at Shabab Al Ahli Club in Dubai, featuring a wide array of clubs from the UAE and a robust roster of ranked athletes. The event will host competitions in four categories: Under-14, Under-16, Under-18, and Adults. Qualifying rounds are scheduled for tomorrow, with finals and medal ceremonies for the top three in each division planned for the following day.

Yousef Abdullah Al Batran, a Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, stated, "The Vice President’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup holds a special place in the Federation’s competition calendar. It is a key platform for developing athletes’ skills and enhancing competition between clubs and academies, contributing to the overall growth of the sport locally."

Al Batran also highlighted that all clubs have prepared thoroughly for this eighth edition. He expressed confidence that the championship will showcase high-level contests, reflecting the significant progress of jiu-jitsu in the region. The event is expected to enhance competition among clubs and academies while fostering local talent development.

Zayed Al Kaabi, Head Coach of Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club, shared his team's aspirations for this year's cup. "We enter the eighth edition of the Vice President’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup with big ambitions, especially after our success last year when we won the Under-14 and Under-18 categories. These achievements reflect the efforts of our players, coaches, and management, and give us extra motivation to deliver strong performances again this year," he said.

The previous edition saw intense competition among participating clubs. Al Ain Club emerged victorious in both the Under-14 and Under-18 divisions, surpassing Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club, Baniyas, and Al Jazira. Meanwhile, Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club secured victory in the Under-16 category by defeating Baniyas and Al Ain.

In last year's adults division, Al Wahda Club successfully retained their title by outperforming Al Ain and Baniyas. These results demonstrate the competitive spirit among clubs striving for excellence in various categories.

The upcoming event promises to be an exciting showcase of talent as clubs aim to build on past successes or achieve new milestones. With strong preparations underway, participants are eager to compete at their best levels.
