University Of Sharjah's Alumni Association Expands With First Chapter In Spain

The University of Sharjah (UoS) has taken a notable step by launching its Alumni Association's Executive Committee in Spain. This is the first regional chapter outside the Arab world, marking its seventh international and regional chapter. The event was held in collaboration with the UAE Embassy in Madrid, attended by key figures like Ibrahim Ali Al Nuaimi and Dr. Salah Taher Al Haj.

The initiative aims to maintain strong ties between alumni and the university, encouraging graduates to act as ambassadors globally. This effort aligns with UoS's mission to enhance its presence on the international stage. Ibrahim Al Nuaimi praised this initiative, highlighting the UAE's commitment to expanding its academic influence worldwide.

UoS Alumni Association Launches in Spain

Dr. Salah Taher Al Haj presented an overview of UoS's achievements, emphasizing its role as a leading educational institution that combines academic excellence with global engagement. He introduced the 2024–2030 EDGE strategic plan, focusing on education excellence, sustainable research, empowering Emirati researchers, community collaboration, and strategic partnerships.

The new strategic plan aims to deepen relationships with alumni globally and improve services offered by the Alumni Association. Dr. Amal Al Ali noted that establishing the Spain chapter continues their expansion efforts, following previous chapters in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Oman, Jordan, and Bahrain.

Wafaa Laalaoui, chair of the new committee and an Engineering graduate from UoS in 2021, expressed pride in her association with the university. She is currently pursuing a Master's at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. Laalaoui emphasized the committee’s goal to strengthen alumni connections and foster an interactive network that supports their academic identity.

The launch event underscored UoS's dedication to fostering enduring connections with its graduates worldwide. By establishing this chapter in Spain, UoS aims to enhance collaboration opportunities between Emirati universities and institutions across Europe and Latin America.

This initiative reflects UoS's ongoing commitment to expanding its global reach while maintaining strong ties with its alumni community. The university continues to empower graduates as ambassadors who can represent UoS at various academic and professional forums internationally.
