UAEBBY Recognises Young Talent In Creative Writing Competition Awards Ceremony

The UAE Board on Books for Young People (UAEBBY) recently celebrated the winners of its "Creative Writing Competition" for participants aged 6 to 18. This competition, held during the summer break, encouraged children and teenagers to showcase their storytelling skills in Arabic. Participants were inspired to create imaginative narratives, allowing them to develop their writing talents.

The competition attracted 74 entries from across the UAE, with contributions from 34 boys and 40 girls. The entries were divided into three age categories: 16 submissions from ages 6 to 9, 21 from ages 10 to 12, and 37 from ages 13 to 18. This diverse participation highlighted the enthusiasm of young writers across different age groups.

UAEBBY Celebrates Young Writers' Achievements

Saif Ahmed Jalal Shaaban, a seventh-grade student at Al Iman Private School in Abu Dhabi, was awarded by Dr. Alyazia Khalifa, a member of the UAEBBY Advisory Board. His story "My Special Octopus" won in the category for ages 12-19. This recognition underscores his creative storytelling abilities.

In Dubai, Majd Al Shehhi from UAEBBY honoured Zayed Ahmed Al Zaabi, a third-grade student at Al Ittihad Private School's Jumeirah branch. His story "Alien Help Call" earned him recognition in the category for ages 6-9. This award highlights his imaginative approach to writing.

Maryam Khaled Mohammed, a tenth-grade student at Falaj Al Mualla Girls Secondary School in Umm Al Quwain, received an award from Marwa Al Aqroubi, President of UAEBBY. Her story "Lifebuoy" was recognised in the category for ages 13-18. Her work reflects her strong narrative skills and creativity.

Marwa Al Aqroubi expressed her delight with the enthusiastic participation of UAE's youth in the competition. She noted that the stories submitted showcased impressive literary talents and writing skills. The young authors demonstrated their ability to imagine diverse ideas and transform them into compelling written texts.

This initiative by UAEBBY not only provided a platform for young writers but also fostered a love for storytelling among children and teenagers in the UAE. By encouraging creativity and imagination, such competitions play a crucial role in nurturing future literary talents.
