UAE Vision 2031: Dr. Al Nuaimi Highlights Sustainable Future And Economic Transformation

During the WeTel Global Economy Forum in Dubai, Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Consultative Council, delivered a keynote address. The event, themed "The Bridge to UAE Vision 2031," gathered policymakers and experts to discuss the UAE's future economic landscape. Dr. Al Nuaimi highlighted that UAE Vision 2031 is now an actionable framework driven by national commitment across all sectors.

Dr. Al Nuaimi outlined that the first pillar of this vision aims to redefine prosperity by shifting from oil reliance to a knowledge-based economy. This transition involves green technology, artificial intelligence, and advanced industries. The goal is to achieve a GDP of AED 3 trillion and AED 800 billion in non-oil exports by 2031. He stressed the importance of investing in innovation hubs and fostering cross-sector partnerships for a post-oil economy.

UAE Vision 2031 Focuses on Sustainability

The second pillar addresses sustainable urban development through smart cities that use clean energy and mobility innovations while maintaining environmental balance. This aligns with the 2050 Net Zero strategy. Dr. Al Nuaimi also emphasized incorporating ESG and digital readiness standards in real estate, infrastructure, and logistics sectors.

Empowering human capital forms the third pillar of Vision 2031. Dr. Al Nuaimi described skilled talent as the nation's true wealth, advocating for lifelong learning and global openness. The aim is for the UAE to rank among the top 10 globally in human development and digital talent retention through comprehensive upskilling and leadership development initiatives.

The fourth pillar focuses on innovation and global competitiveness, with the UAE making rapid progress towards becoming a hub for regulatory and technological advancements, especially in AI and biotechnology. Dr. Al Nuaimi called for stronger collaborations between universities and public-private sectors to create intellectual capital that drives regional knowledge transformation.

Environmental sustainability and food security form the fifth pillar of Vision 2031. Dr. Al Nuaimi stated that sustainability is seen as a competitive advantage rather than a burden. The UAE aims to be among the top 10 globally in food security, water efficiency, and climate adaptation by adopting circular economy models, climate-smart agriculture, and resource reuse strategies.

Collective Effort Towards Vision 2031

Concluding his speech, Dr. Al Nuaimi described Vision 2031 as a comprehensive national project requiring collective institutional and individual effort. He stated that building this future starts today with investment in people, a unified vision, and an innovative economy that reflects the UAE's regional and global stature.
