UAE Reiterates Commitment To Diplomacy And Humanitarian Aid At UN General Assembly 2023

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reiterated its dedication to diplomacy, dialogue, and de-escalation at the United Nations General Assembly. The UAE emphasised its support for a fair and comprehensive peace based on a two-state solution. It called for an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza, the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid, and the release of hostages and detainees.

The UAE condemned attacks on civilians and violations of state sovereignty. It criticised Israel's assault on Qatar and renewed its call for ending the occupation of three Emirati islands. Additionally, it expressed full support for Moroccan sovereignty over the Moroccan Sahara.

UAE's Diplomatic Commitment at UN Assembly

Highlighting its mediation efforts, the UAE supports Sudan and initiatives in climate, water, and artificial intelligence. The country stresses women's participation as part of its vision for a fairer international order. "The country highlighted its mediation efforts, support for Sudan, and initiatives on climate, water and artificial intelligence," stated Lana Zaki Nusseibeh.

The UAE remains committed to peaceful solutions worldwide. It aims not just to manage conflicts but to resolve them sustainably. This approach is crucial in regions like Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan, Yemen, Libya, or the Sahel.

Many crises are worsened by extremist ideologies and hate speech. The UAE leads efforts to advance tolerance and security agendas to uphold UN Charter values. "There is no doubt that what we are witnessing today in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is not only a result of but serves extremists," Nusseibeh noted.

The UAE firmly believes in a two-state solution with an independent Palestinian State alongside Israel. This is essential for achieving a permanent resolution with security and prosperity for both states.

Humanitarian Diplomacy

The UAE champions genuine humanitarian diplomacy aimed at preserving dignity in difficult circumstances. It has facilitated prisoner exchanges between Russia and Ukraine and hosted peace talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

In Sudan, where people face immense suffering, the UAE supports their aspirations to end civil war impacts. It underscores the importance of reaching a ceasefire and ensuring unhindered humanitarian aid access throughout Sudan.

International Cooperation

The UAE calls for reforming international institutions like the UN Security Council to enhance collective action capabilities. The UN80 initiative is seen as an opportunity to strengthen these organisations' roles.

This vision aligns with the UAE's national approach under Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's leadership. The aim is an effective international system serving humanity collectively towards sustainable prosperity.

Investments in Development

The UAE has doubled foreign investments across various projects globally. Partnerships with the Global South have expanded significantly, especially in Africa's diverse sectors.

In science and technology fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), the UAE supports countries building technological capacities while respecting national values ​​and priorities responsibly under international law guidelines.

Environmental Initiatives

The UAE accelerates investments in climate action supporting innovative solutions promoting clean energy transitions responsibly worldwide through initiatives like COP28 outcomes implementation from Dubai 2023 consensus agreements reached there last year too!
