UAE Enhances Global Law Enforcement Training Against Child Sexual Abuse Operations

The UAE, through its Ministry of Interior, collaborated with the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) to train law enforcement officers from 10 Latin American nations. These officers took part in a global operation targeting online child sexual exploitation. Argentina spearheaded this initiative, which was conducted simultaneously across 15 countries, including Brazil, Ecuador, and the United States.

The training programme took place in Buenos Aires under the "Artificial Intelligence for Safer Children" initiative. Launched by UNICRI and the UAE's Ministry of Interior in 2020, this initiative aims to enhance law enforcement agencies' ability worldwide to use artificial intelligence against child sexual exploitation crimes. This effort underscores the importance of technology in tackling such serious issues.

The international operation led by Argentina achieved significant outcomes. Authorities issued 73 search warrants across participating nations and arrested 22 individuals for possessing, producing, or distributing child sexual exploitation materials. Additionally, 15 children and adolescents were rescued during this operation.

In total, the operation resulted in 32 arrests and the seizure of 393 electronic devices. These actions represent a substantial step forward in combating these heinous crimes. The success of this operation highlights the effectiveness of international cooperation and training in addressing global challenges like child protection.

This collaborative effort dealt a decisive blow to those involved in such criminal activities.
