UAE Tourism Sector Generates AED 45 Billion In Hotel Revenues For 2024 Amid Strong Growth
The UAE's tourism sector continues to thrive, as highlighted by Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Emirates Tourism Council. He attributes this success to strategic leadership and sustainable policies that have been implemented. These efforts are crucial in enhancing the nation's economic competitiveness and resilience, steering it towards a knowledge-based economy.
Hotel revenues in the UAE reached AED45 billion in 2024, marking a 3% increase from the previous year. The hotel occupancy rate also rose to 78%, placing the country among the top globally. This growth was bolstered by the opening of 16 new hotels across all seven emirates, bringing the total number of hotels to 1,251 by year's end.

Minister Al Marri emphasised ongoing national efforts to develop innovative tourism initiatives and projects. The UAE is strengthening collaborations with local and international tourism bodies to enhance its global tourism identity. The goal is to offer world-class experiences that attract visitors worldwide while diversifying special interest tourism offerings.
The number of hotel rooms increased by 3%, reaching 216,966 by the end of 2024. This expansion supports the country's aim to provide diverse accommodation options for tourists. Additionally, fostering Emirati talent and driving investment across all areas of tourism are key priorities for further growth.
The UAE welcomed approximately 30.8 million hotel guests in 2024, reflecting a significant growth of 9.5%. This achievement represents 77% of the target set by the 'National Tourism Strategy 2031', accomplished seven years ahead of schedule. Bin Touq stated, "With the current growth trajectory, we are well on track to achieving the strategy's ambitious goal of attracting 40 million hotel guests."
The focus remains on building sector capacities and encouraging Emirati participation in tourism-related activities. These efforts aim to elevate the UAE's status as a leading global tourist destination by offering unique experiences that appeal to a wide range of visitors.
The UAE's strategic approach to tourism development continues to yield positive results. By prioritising innovation and collaboration, the nation is poised for sustained growth in its tourism sector, contributing significantly to its economic transformation.
