UAE Secures Top Podium Positions At AJP Dubai International Jiu-Jitsu Championship

The AJP Dubai International Jiu-Jitsu Championship wrapped up after three days of intense competition at Shabab Al Ahli Arena. Athletes from various categories and nationalities competed fiercely, aiming to earn points in the official annual international ranking approved by the Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro (AJP). The event attracted a large audience, showcasing top-level jiu-jitsu action.

Commando Group Academy emerged victorious in the overall team rankings, with MOD Academy and Al Jazira Club following in second and third places, respectively. At the country level, the UAE maintained its leading position, ahead of Brazil and Colombia. This championship is a key event on the AJP season calendar, featuring high-quality competitions that delighted spectators.

Yousef Abdullah Al Batran, Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, highlighted the significance of this round. He stated, "The Dubai International round delivered multiple gains, foremost among them reinforcing the UAE’s global leadership in jiu-jitsu and its position as an exceptional destination attracting champions from around the world."

Emirati athletes showcased strong performances throughout the championship. Their dedication and support from clubs and academies were crucial in reaching podium finishes. Al Batran added that these achievements reflect their commitment and sacrifices, aligning with the aspirations of UAE’s leadership.

Gold medalist Faraj Al-Aulaqi triumphed in the 94 kg division. He credited his athletically inclined family for motivating him to excel. "This win is especially meaningful to me because I represent a family that loves sports and believes in a culture of excellence," he said.

Remarkable Comebacks

Sultan Jaber made a triumphant return after a six-month hiatus due to an ACL injury. He secured gold in the 69 kg division at this event. Expressing his pride, he said, "Today I return to the competition mat through the gateway of the AJP Dubai International Jiu-Jitsu Championship."

Jaber's recovery involved intensive rehabilitation with support from technical and medical teams at UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and Al Wahda Club. His victory marked a new beginning for him as he aims for more titles with his club and national team.
