UAE Team Emirates-XRG Claims Overall Victory At The 2025 Tour De Romandie With João Almeida's Triumph
UAE Team Emirates-XRG celebrated a successful week at the 2025 Tour de Romandie, with João Almeida from Portugal winning the general classification. His strong performance in the final individual time trial stage in Geneva secured his victory. Jay Vine also shone, finishing third overall and winning Stage 3 and the mountains classification. The team further claimed the team classification title.
Almeida expressed his joy, stating, "Of course, I feel very happy. The goal was to win the race. Unfortunately, I didn’t win a stage, but we were always in the front, and that’s what matters. I’m super happy for the overall win." His consistent presence at the front of the race was crucial to his success.

The sixth stage featured a 17.1 km individual time trial in Geneva. Remco Evenepoel from Soudal–QuickStep excelled, winning the stage with an impressive ride. Despite this, Almeida's focus on the general classification saw him finish second in this stage, just 12 seconds behind Evenepoel.
Jay Vine played a significant role in UAE Team Emirates-XRG's achievements during this tour. His solo attack in the last kilometre of Stage 3 led to a victory at Cossonay. This aggressive strategy throughout mountainous stages earned him both third place overall and the King of the Mountains jersey.
This triumph at Tour de Romandie adds to UAE Team Emirates-XRG's remarkable 2025 season, marking their 37th victory so far. The team's momentum is building as they prepare for their next challenge at the Giro d’Italia starting in Albania next weekend.
The final standings for the general classification were: João Almeida (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) leading with a time of 16:50:44; Lenny Martinez from Bahrain Victorious trailing by 26 seconds; and Jay Vine (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) finishing 41 seconds behind Almeida.
