UAE Achieves Milestone With Successful First-Ever HAPS Flight Series
Mira Aerospace, a global leader in High Altitude Platform Station (HAPS) technology, has announced the successful completion of a series of HAPS flights in the UAE. This joint venture between Bayanat, an AI-powered geospatial analytics provider, and UAVOS, a US-based developer of advanced unmanned systems, underscores its commitment to advancing the UAE’s aerospace industry and enhancing its international standing.
The aircraft operated from Abu Al Abyad Island in the UAE, flying at stratospheric altitudes for several days during each mission. These flights carried an advanced Earth Observation payload and tested various scenarios to explore potential applications in Earth Observation and Environmental Monitoring. Valuable flight data was gathered throughout these missions.

Mira Aerospace’s HAPS technology offers long-duration, zero-carbon flights using high-efficiency solar panels for energy. This sustainable solution provides continuous Earth surface monitoring by collecting high-resolution data and communication services for uninhabited areas. It can operate independently or through 4G and 5G service providers with flexible flight path control.
Khaled Al Marzouqi, CEO of Mira Aerospace, highlighted the UAE’s dedication to adopting cutting-edge technologies. He stated that these advancements would position the country among global leaders in space innovation and data diversity. The applications of unmanned systems will support vital sectors such as the environment, agriculture, energy, government, and private sectors.
The World Economic Forum (WEF) has recognised HAPS technology as one of the top ten new technologies that will impact the world. Successful flights from the UAE demonstrate the country’s growing expertise in high-tech aerospace solutions and set the stage for future breakthroughs in this field.
Hasan Al Hosani, Managing Director of Bayanat and Chairman of Mira Aerospace, commented on this achievement: "As Bayanat completes its merger with Yahsat to evolve into Space42, Mira Aerospace’s advancements are pivotal to our vision. These successful HAPS flights mark a critical step forward, enabling us to not only gather more comprehensive data but also to analyse and commercialise it through our AI-powered gIQ platform. This achievement propels us closer to realising the UAE’s ambitious goals and reinforces our unwavering commitment to leading the future of aerospace innovation."
The success of these test flights is a significant milestone for Mira Aerospace. It showcases their ability to bridge the gap between satellites and terrestrial systems with enhanced capabilities across extensive areas. This enables more precise and adaptable solutions for global challenges.
"As we soon become Space42," continued Al Hosani, "we are dedicated to pioneering breakthroughs that inspire progress and drive positive change on a global scale."
These achievements highlight Mira Aerospace's role in advancing aerospace innovation while supporting sustainable development goals. The company's efforts contribute significantly to positioning the UAE as a leader in space technology.
The recent series of successful HAPS flights by Mira Aerospace marks a crucial step towards achieving broader objectives within the aerospace sector. By leveraging advanced technologies and strategic partnerships, they continue to push boundaries in Earth Observation and Environmental Monitoring.
Mira Aerospace's ongoing efforts demonstrate their commitment to driving progress within the aerospace industry while addressing global challenges through innovative solutions.
