AI's impact on the UAE's economy is expected to be substantial. A PwC report predicts that AI will contribute around 13.6% to the nation's GDP, equating to approximately $100 billion by 2030. Globally, the UAE is projected to rank third in AI's economic contribution, following China and the US. Regionally, AI's influence on economies could grow between 20% and 34%, with the UAE leading due to its strong commitment to AI development.

Ahmed Gamal from Advanced Integration highlighted the UAE’s transformative progress in AI since launching its national strategy in 2017. The strategy aims for the nation to become a global hub for AI by 2031, focusing on sectors like education, healthcare, transportation, and energy.

KPMG International Limited notes that the UAE’s regulatory framework facilitates innovations in financial technology and digital payments. Cybersecurity plays a crucial role in digital transformation efforts, with new data privacy laws introduced to protect personal and organisational information.

Samer Al Jayyusi emphasised the UAE’s strategic approach of combining flexible regulations with ambitious investments in emerging technologies. The nation was among the first globally to implement policies governing AI usage while fostering an innovative environment.

Abu Dhabi aims to be the first government powered by AI. Its strategy focuses on building robust digital infrastructure, adopting sovereign cloud computing at full capacity, and automating government operations entirely.

Dr. Akram Awad from Boston Consulting Group highlighted the UAE’s competitiveness in AI due to its developed digital infrastructure and supportive ecosystem for regulation and investment. Since 2022, there has been a 40% increase in AI professionals within the country.

Nick Redshaw of Oracle praised the UAE’s leadership for setting an inspiring vision during this era of AI advancement. Ahmed Gamal also noted that investments in AI are expected to bring substantial economic benefits soon.
