UAE Stock Markets Experience AED 257 Billion Growth Driven By Strong Economy And Investments In 2024

The UAE's stock markets witnessed remarkable growth in 2024, driven by a strong economy, foreign investments, and initial public offerings. Both the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) and the Dubai Financial Market (DFM) experienced notable increases in market capitalisation and trading volumes. This growth reinforced the UAE's status as a prime investment hub in the region.

By the end of 2024, the combined market capitalisation of Dubai and Abu Dhabi stock markets exceeded AED3.905 trillion, up from AED3.648 trillion at the end of 2023. This performance highlighted the momentum gained over previous years, cementing their reputation as significant investment destinations globally. The markets concluded 2024 with an impressive increase of approximately AED257 billion in market capitalisation.

UAE Stock Markets Grow AED 257 Billion in 2024

The ADX saw its market capitalisation rise to AED2.998 trillion by December 31, 2024, compared to AED2.961 trillion at the end of 2023. Meanwhile, DFM increased its market capitalisation to AED906.912 billion at the close of 2024, up from AED687.5 billion at the previous year's end.

In terms of trading activity, local markets attracted over AED449 billion in trading value during 2024. The ADX accounted for AED342.4 billion, while DFM contributed AED106.7 billion to this total. The volume of shares traded throughout the year surpassed 142 billion shares, with ADX handling 90.16 billion shares and DFM managing 51.85 billion shares.

Trading was conducted through more than 7.2 million transactions across both exchanges, with ADX executing approximately 4.655 million transactions and DFM completing around 2.55 million transactions.

Index Performance

At the conclusion of the trading year in 2024, the FTSE ADX General Index closed at 9,414.460 points. Meanwhile, the DFM General Index ended above 5,158.670 points.

The robust performance of these markets underscores their growing appeal to investors worldwide and highlights their strategic importance within the Middle East's financial landscape as they continue to attract significant investments and trading activity year after year.
