UAE And Spain Strengthen Space Collaboration With New MoU For Satellite Services

Space42, a UAE-based company specialising in AI-powered SpaceTech, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hisdesat Servicios Estratégicos, S.A., Spain's government satellite operator. This agreement aims to explore commercial collaboration in Earth Observation and Satellite Communications (Satcom). The partnership reflects the growing cooperation between the UAE and Spain in the space sector.

The MoU establishes a framework for joint efforts in technology integration and market development. Both companies aim to enhance offerings for government, defence, and commercial clients by co-developing next-generation satellite services. This collaboration aligns with their shared goal of expanding global partnerships and leveraging the momentum in UAE–Spain space cooperation.

Ali Al Hashemi, CEO of Space Services at Space42, stated that this partnership highlights Space42's role as a bridge between nations. He emphasised how space technology can drive economic growth and societal progress. "Rooted in our strategy to become the preferred partner for premium geospatial data, we strive to collaborate with like-minded partners," he said. By combining their AI-driven satellite infrastructure with Hisdesat’s expertise in secure communications, they aim to accelerate the development of satellite services that advance global resilience and connectivity.

Miguel Angel García Primo, CEO of Hisdesat, expressed enthusiasm about the MoU with Space42. He noted it as an important step in their growth within the UAE and Middle East. For HisdeSAT, this agreement signifies a commitment to work towards joint development between the UAE and Spain.

The companies will jointly assess opportunities in three main areas: Earth Observation, Wideband SATCOM, and Narrowband SATCOM. This partnership builds on existing cooperation between the UAE and Spain across technology, investment, and trade sectors. Both nations are investing in Earth Observation, climate monitoring, and secure communications to bolster resilience and foster innovation within the global space economy.
