UAE Space Agency Partners With EDCC To Strengthen Aerospace And Defence Sectors

The UAE Space Agency and the Emirates Defence Companies Council (EDCC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore business opportunities within the aerospace and defence sectors. The agreement was formalised during the ‘Make it in the Emirates’ Forum in Abu Dhabi. Salem Butti Al Qubaisi, Director-General of the UAE Space Agency, and Mona Ahmed Al Jaber, Chairwoman of EDCC, were present for the signing.

Salem Al Qubaisi stated, "This MoU reflects our commitment to developing advanced industries in the UAE by cooperating in enhancing our ability to innovate and compete globally. This enables us to support the national economy, create new job opportunities, and sustainable investments in these two leading sectors." He emphasised that the collaboration aims to position the UAE as a hub for technology and innovation.

UAE Space, EDCC Boost Defence Sector

Al Qubaisi added, "Through this MoU, we look forward to mutual achievements that exceed expectations and push innovation to new levels. This supports the vision and aspirations of the UAE’s leadership in achieving comprehensive development over the next fifty years in all sectors, including aerospace and defence."

Mona Al Jaber commented, "This MoU represents a significant step forward in fostering collaboration between the aerospace and defence sectors in the UAE." She highlighted that by working with the UAE Space Agency, both industries can leverage their expertise to create new business opportunities and drive innovation.

The MoU aims to leverage the strengths of both organisations to drive economic growth and diversification by exploring synergies in aerospace and defence. The collaboration seeks to enhance economic growth by tapping space-related opportunities for defence and adjacent industries.

Focus Areas of Collaboration

Under the MoU, the UAE Space Agency will work with EDCC to identify industrial and business opportunities within the space sector that align with EDCC members' capabilities. This partnership also aims to promote education and skill development in defence and space-related technologies among local talents.

The agreement establishes a framework for exchanging information and best practices between the defence and space sectors. This is expected to enhance competitiveness and efficiency in areas such as procurement and technology development.
