UAE Recognised As Key Partner In South Africa's Technology And Innovation Expansion Efforts
Professor Blade Nzimande, South Africa's Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, has highlighted the strategic partnership with the UAE in trade and technology. He noted that the UAE is South Africa's second-largest trading partner. This relationship is crucial for expanding cooperation in technology and innovation sectors.
Prof. Nzimande emphasised that the UAE is a vital partner for South Africa, not only in trade but also in technology and innovation. Both nations are finalising a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to outline future cooperation opportunities in these fields.

The Minister pointed out the collaboration with UAE universities, including the United Arab Emirates University, in higher education and research. The UAE's entry into the BRICS group has further strengthened ties between the two countries.
South Africa is actively working to expand technology and internet access across Africa. It is involved in developing the second edition of the Science, Technology, and Innovation Strategy for Africa. This strategy is expected to be adopted by African Union Heads of State soon.
Prof. Nzimande mentioned South Africa's significant role in shaping the "2034" Strategy. This roadmap aims to guide Africa towards achieving its development goals by 2034.
The Minister affirmed the importance of collaboration between South Africa and the UAE in promoting digital transformation across Africa. He expressed optimism about deepening future cooperation to achieve sustainable development goals.
