UAE Climbs To Second Place In Global FDI Project Announcements In 2023
The UAE has secured the second position globally, following the United States, in greenfield FDI project announcements for 2023. According to the World Investment Report 2024 by UNCTAD, the UAE recorded 1,323 projects, marking a 33% rise from 2022.
In terms of FDI inflows, the UAE attracted US$ 30.688 billion in 2023, compared to $22.737 billion in 2022. This represents a year-on-year growth of 35%. The report also highlighted that FDI outflows from the UAE amounted to $22.328 billion in 2023, down from $24.833 billion in the previous year.

The stock of FDI outflows increased to $262.208 billion in 2023, up from $239.880 billion in 2022. This growth reflects the UAE's expanding role in global investment landscapes.The UAE's rise in greenfield project rankings is notable. It moved up two places among top destinations for such projects after entering the top five in 2022. This progress underscores the country's growing appeal to international investors.
