UAE Secures Unanimous Re-Election To Arab Civil Aviation Organisation's Executive Council

The UAE, represented by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), has been re-elected to the Executive Council of the Arab Civil Aviation Organisation. This decision was made unanimously during the organisation's General Assembly held in Rabat, Morocco, on 3rd July.

Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the GCAA, highlighted that this achievement reflects the UAE's dedication to enhancing Arab cooperation. He stated, "Civil aviation is undoubtedly a pivotal area in Arab cooperation, where significant progress has been achieved in several key areas." The UAE aims to support all efforts to elevate joint Arab action to more advanced levels.

Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the GCAA, expressed pride in this accomplishment. He attributed it to the wise vision of the UAE's leadership and noted that it reaffirms the country's status as a leading force in civil aviation both regionally and internationally.

The Executive Council comprises nine members elected by the General Assembly from among member state nominees for a two-year term. It is responsible for making decisions and recommendations for the organisation. The UAE will continue to endorse initiatives that strengthen Arab cooperation within civil aviation and collaborate with the newly elected President of the Executive Council.

Al Suwaidi further emphasised that the UAE remains committed to supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening Arab cooperation in civil aviation. This dedication aims to ensure a secure and sustainable future for the sector while creating a more cohesive presence of Arab states within the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
