UAE President Commends Contributions To Ma’an’s Community Initiatives

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has honoured several individuals and corporations for their contributions to the Authority of Social Contribution - Ma’an in 2023. These efforts have promoted values of giving, humanitarianism, and volunteerism, fostering community cohesion and solidarity deeply rooted in Emirati society.

The ceremony at Qasr Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi saw His Highness express gratitude for these contributions. He highlighted how they exemplify the spirit of generosity inherent in UAE society and support the national vision of strengthening community solidarity for current and future generations.

The event was attended by notable figures including H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Adviser for Special Affairs at the Presidential Court; Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development; Salama Al Ameemi, Director-General of Ma’an; and other officials and contributors.

Since its inception in 2019, Ma’an has channelled AED370.4 million into socially prioritised projects across key sectors such as healthcare, education, environment, infrastructure, and community services. These initiatives have positively impacted more than 800,000 individuals through 153 community projects.

Over the past year, honoured individuals and institutions have made significant financial and in-kind contributions to social priorities managed by Ma’an. This organisation serves as the official channel in Abu Dhabi for collecting community contributions from public and private sectors as well as civil society.

Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili emphasised that leadership continues to support the social sector to advance sustainable social development. He noted that this strengthens stakeholders' roles in enhancing quality of life and consolidating Abu Dhabi’s position as a preferred destination to live and work.

Commitment to Community Engagement

Salama Al Ameemi praised the exceptional support provided by leadership to Ma’an’s initiatives aimed at enhancing community unity within Abu Dhabi society. She stated, "We remain committed to collaborating with partners across public, private, and civil society sectors to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions to key social priorities."

The Authority collaborates with various partners to direct community contributions towards initiatives addressing social priorities set by the Department of Community Development. This collaboration aims to provide comprehensive solutions that improve quality of life across Abu Dhabi.

The Authority is dedicated to fostering a culture of collective community responsibility. It empowers individuals and institutions to select projects aligning with their goals and values, supporting Abu Dhabi’s vision of cultivating a cooperative, cohesive, and inclusive society.

The social sector in Abu Dhabi supports enhancing a culture of community engagement through various initiatives implemented by the Department of Community Development and other partners. These efforts contribute to consolidating values of community cohesion.

Salama Al Ameemi added that Ma’an will continue enhancing community engagement and supporting solutions that address social priorities while creating sustainable positive impacts. She said their efforts reflect Abu Dhabi Government’s dedication to fostering innovation in governance aspects.

This recognition underscores the importance placed on collective efforts towards societal betterment within Emirati culture. The contributions made are seen as vital steps towards achieving long-term sustainability goals for both present and future generations.
