UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Affirms Strong Commitment To US Partnership In Talks With President Biden
President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasised the significance of partnerships during discussions with US President Joe Biden at the White House. His Highness reiterated the UAE's steadfast dedication to its partnership with the US, highlighting the importance of building connections with nations that share similar values and aspirations for a better future.
The leaders explored various aspects of their enduring bilateral relationship, focusing on trade, investment, advanced technology, space, renewable energy, climate action, sustainability, and food security. They expressed eagerness to enhance cooperation in these areas to support both countries' shared goals for global prosperity and stability.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed affirmed that the UAE and the United States enjoy a robust friendship and strategic alliance founded on mutual trust, respect, and shared interests. This alliance is rooted in a long history of collaboration across political, economic, and other domains.
The meeting also addressed regional and international issues of mutual concern, particularly developments in the Middle East and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The leaders discussed efforts to achieve a ceasefire to ensure unhindered humanitarian aid flow and prevent any escalation threatening regional security.
To illustrate how relations between the two nations have evolved, His Highness recalled a 1974 meeting between UAE’s Founding Father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and NASA representatives discussing the Apollo programme. Now, fifty years later, the UAE collaborates with NASA on the Gateway mission to establish humanity’s first lunar space station.
His Highness praised President Biden's initiative alongside joint mediation efforts by the US, Egypt, and Qatar to secure a lasting ceasefire in Gaza. He stressed continuing these efforts as an initial step towards resuming political processes for comprehensive peace based on a two-state solution ensuring regional security.
Commitment to Peace and Stability
The UAE President highlighted his country's commitment to deepening cooperation with the US regarding their shared vision of promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the Middle East. This aligns with UAE's longstanding approach of supporting regional stability through collective international efforts.
Upon arriving at the White House, His Highness wrote in the guestbook expressing pleasure at meeting President Biden. He reaffirmed UAE’s eagerness to strengthen its strategic relationship with the US to support both countries' development goals while wishing continued progress for America.
The meeting was attended by H.H. Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan; H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Khaldoun Khalifa Al Mubarak; and Yousef Al Otaiba. These officials represent key figures from Abu Dhabi's leadership involved in national security and foreign affairs.
