UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Establishes UAE Aid Agency For Humanitarian Efforts

The UAE has taken a significant step in enhancing its humanitarian efforts with the establishment of the UAE Aid Agency. This initiative, formalised through Federal Decree No. 27 of 2024 by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, aligns with the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council. The agency is granted full legal capacity to operate independently.

His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister, highlighted the agency's role in continuing the humanitarian legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. "The establishment of the UAE Aid Agency represents a continuation of the steadfast humanitarian legacy laid by our Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan," he stated.

UAE President Establishes New Aid Agency

The UAE Aid Agency is responsible for implementing foreign aid programmes that align with international humanitarian policies. Its duties include planning and monitoring government support, focusing on disaster relief, early recovery, post-conflict stabilisation, development initiatives, and capacity building. The agency aims to enhance the impact of UAE's global priority foreign aid.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasised the UAE's dedication to improving living conditions worldwide. "The establishment of the UAE Aid Agency reaffirms the UAE's humanitarian role in providing essential assistance, improving living conditions, and supporting communities and people across all continents," he said.

The agency will work closely with international partners to create lasting positive impacts in crisis-affected regions. Key focus areas include educational services, healthcare facilities, and infrastructure development to achieve sustainable growth and prosperity for all communities involved.

H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed commitment to addressing global challenges strategically. "With the formation of the UAE Aid Agency, we are reaffirming our commitment to addressing global humanitarian challenges and promoting sustainable development in a strategic and coordinated manner," he noted.

UAE's Generosity on a Global Scale

The UAE is recognised as one of the world's most generous donors. Since its inception by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, it has contributed over US$98 billion (AED360 billion) in foreign aid. This assistance has positively impacted more than one billion people globally.

The new agency seeks to maximise positive outcomes from humanitarian relief programmes worldwide. It aligns with the UAE's regional and international stature in developmental efforts, ensuring that its contributions continue to foster sustainable development globally.
