UAE President Praises Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid For His Initiatives Advancing National Progress
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, has been honoured with the Emirates International Holy Quran Award – Personality of the Year for 2025. This recognition is for his significant contributions to the Holy Quran and its reciters worldwide. His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, praised Sheikh Mohammed's efforts in promoting human values rooted in Islamic principles.
During a meeting at Sheikh Zayed’s farm in Al Khawaneej, Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed highlighted Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s pivotal role in advancing the nation and supporting its people. He emphasised that Sheikh Mohammed's humanitarian and cultural initiatives are key to the UAE's progress and serve as a beacon for human advancement.
The Emirates International Holy Quran Award was launched by the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat in Abu Dhabi under the patronage of His Highness the UAE President. This award underscores the UAE's commitment to supporting Quranic endeavours both locally and globally. It also aims to nurture national talents and recognise outstanding figures in the field.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid has made remarkable contributions to the service of the Holy Quran through various initiatives. These include the Dubai International Quran Award, which features several key programmes such as the Islamic Personality of the Year Award, International Quran Competition, and Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak International Quran Competition for Women.
The Dubai International Quran Award also encompasses other significant initiatives like the Most Beautiful Recitation Competition and National Quran Memorisation Competition. Additionally, it includes a programme for inmates in correctional facilities in Dubai to memorise the Quran. These efforts highlight Sheikh Mohammed's dedication to fostering a deep connection with the Holy Quran across different segments of society.
Sheikh Mohammed established the Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Printing the Holy Quran and has been instrumental in developing Quranic institutions and academies. His initiatives have significantly contributed to promoting Arabic language and culture within society.
Award Structure
The inaugural edition of this award consists of three main sections: The International First Place Quran Award recognises top performers from international competitions. The National First Place Quran Award celebrates national talents across all emirates with multiple subcategories. Lastly, it honours an exceptional global figure or institution dedicated to Quranic excellence.
This year’s International First Place section saw 10 male and female contestants acknowledged for their achievements based on rigorous criteria. Meanwhile, 86 participants emerged victorious nationwide in various subcategories under the National First Place section during its 2024 cycle.
The meeting was attended by several dignitaries including His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah; His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman; among others. Their presence underscored the significance of this occasion.
The award not only highlights individual accomplishments but also reinforces collective efforts towards nurturing talents who memorise or recite Qurans globally while recognising distinguished personalities contributing significantly within this realm.
