UAE Police Chiefs Council Meeting Led By Dhahi Khalfan Highlights Importance Of Security Awareness
Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Director of Police and Public Security in Dubai, highlighted the critical need for public awareness about security. He stressed informing the community about criminal tactics to prevent negative trends. This statement was made during a UAE Police Chiefs Council meeting he chaired remotely, attended by police chiefs, senior officers, and Ministry of Interior officials.
The Council discussed emerging cybercrimes, often executed through phone scams, phishing emails, or fraudulent social media posts. These scams typically involve fake sales offers that deceive many due to insufficient awareness. The Council stressed the media's crucial role in educating the public and fostering vigilance against these threats.

Reports on troubling crimes were reviewed, including a comparative analysis of incidents from the first half of 2023-2024. The Council also examined criminal activities within specific communities based on reports from 2021 to 2024. These discussions aimed at understanding crime patterns and enhancing preventive measures.
The Council assessed progress towards national agenda goals and the ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision in the year's first half. The initiative aims for global leadership in public safety with a 100 percent rapid response rate to emergencies within five minutes. It also seeks to place the UAE among the top three countries worldwide for low road fatality rates.
Efforts towards achieving a 100 percent response rate to urgent security reports within ten minutes were also evaluated. These goals reflect the UAE's commitment to enhancing public safety standards and ensuring swift responses to emergencies.
Community Initiatives and Strategic Decisions
The Council reviewed initiatives from the Communities Committee and efforts towards creating a safe school environment. Updates on the Intelligent Command and Control Centre (ICCC) were also discussed. Throughout the session, various agenda items were explored, leading to strategic decisions and recommendations for effectively addressing these challenges.
The meeting underscored the importance of media in promoting a culture of vigilance against cyber threats. By raising awareness about criminal tactics, communities can be better equipped to prevent negative trends before they escalate.
