UAE And Philippines Forge Ahead With Enhanced Bilateral Relations And Cooperation
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Enrique Manalo, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines, during his visit to Manila. The meeting focused on the bilateral relations between the UAE and the Philippines, marking five decades since the establishment of diplomatic ties on 19th August 1974.
The discussions centred on enhancing cooperation in various sectors such as economic, investment, commercial, and developmental domains. Sheikh Abdullah expressed his pleasure at visiting the Philippines and highlighted the UAE's commitment to working with the country to seize opportunities that support sustainable development goals and mutual interests.
Sheikh Abdullah emphasised that the strong relations between the two nations are built on friendship, cooperation, and joint efforts for the prosperity and well-being of their peoples. He also acknowledged the significant contributions of the Filipino community in the UAE across various work sectors, noting their importance in the UAE's multicultural society.
In addition to bilateral relations, Sheikh Abdullah and Manalo reviewed regional and international developments, particularly focusing on the situation in the Middle East and Gaza Strip. The discussions aimed at understanding and addressing current geopolitical challenges.
The meeting was attended by Mohamed Obaid Alqataam Alzaabi, UAE Ambassador to the Philippines, and Saeed Mubarak Al Hajri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs. Their presence underscored the importance of diplomatic engagement in fostering stronger ties between the two countries.
