UAE Delegation Showcases Leadership At 7th BRICS Youth Energy Summit On Sustainable Energy Transition
The UAE, led by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, took part in the 7th BRICS Youth Energy Summit in Brazil. This event gathered youth delegations from member states and invited nations, featuring top experts and professionals. The UAE's participation underscores its dedication to international collaboration, youth empowerment, and leadership in energy transition.
Representatives from key national entities in the UAE's energy sector attended the summit. These included the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Federal Youth Authority, Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC), and Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority (SEWA). Their presence highlighted the nation's commitment to sustainable energy practices.

The UAE delegation served as a keynote speaker during a panel discussion titled "Technological Advancements for Low-Carbon Power Systems." They showcased the country's advancements in smart energy systems using low-carbon fuels like clean hydrogen, solar power, and sustainable aviation fuel. This aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 7 for affordable and modern energy access.
In addition to technological progress, the delegation highlighted national policies such as the UAE Energy Strategy 2050 and National Hydrogen Strategy 2050. These initiatives demonstrate the country's proactive approach to achieving climate neutrality by mid-century through renewable energy expansion and fossil fuel reduction.
The UAE emphasised its dedication to implementing outcomes from the historic UAE Consensus during COP28. This initiative advocates for a fair transition from fossil fuels while boosting renewable technologies. The delegation stressed investing in innovation and empowering youth to lead global shifts toward low-emission energy systems.
Emirati success stories in clean energy research were shared as models for BRICS countries. These examples serve as inspiration for broader international efforts toward sustainable energy solutions. The focus on building national capacities highlights the importance of preparing future leaders for these challenges.
Strengthening International Partnerships
At the summit's conclusion, the UAE reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing cooperation with BRICS partners. The goal is to create a secure and inclusive energy future for coming generations. By working together, these nations aim to address global energy challenges effectively.
