UAE Delegation Led By Abdulla Balalaa Participates In High-Level Sessions At Petersberg Climate Dialogue
Abdulla Balalaa, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainability, represented the UAE at the Petersberg Climate Dialogue. He engaged in high-level discussions with Germany's Federal Chancellor and other ministers. His participation underscored the UAE's dedication to international collaboration on climate action, energy transition, water management, and sustainable development.
During his visit to Berlin, Balalaa met with key German and international figures. These included Stefan Wenzel from Germany's Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Jochen Flasbarth from the Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Eva Kracht from the Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, and Simon Stiell from UNFCCC. Their discussions aimed at strengthening multilateral climate initiatives.

The meetings also focused on advancing COP28 outcomes and exploring cooperation between the UAE and Germany in clean energy and climate finance. They addressed preparations for the 2026 United Nations Water Conference, which the UAE will co-host with Senegal. This highlights water's crucial role in achieving climate objectives and enhancing resilience against climate change impacts.
Balalaa emphasized the UAE's commitment to accelerating climate action through global partnerships. "The UAE remains committed to working closely with global partners to accelerate climate action and the energy transition. Our collaborations with German leaders and UNFCCC officials reflect our shared vision for a sustainable and resilient future for generations to come," he stated.
This visit is part of the UAE's leadership in global climate diplomacy following its successful hosting of COP28. The country continues its efforts towards achieving climate neutrality while reinforcing its role as a strategic partner in sustainability, energy, and water resource management.
The meetings further solidified the UAE’s position as a key player in international cooperation on sustainability issues. By engaging with German leaders and UNFCCC officials, the UAE aims to foster a shared vision for a sustainable future that ensures natural resource security.
