UAE Parliamentary Division Participates In 11th BRICS Parliamentary Forum To Discuss Economic Development
The UAE Parliamentary Division participated in the 11th BRICS Parliamentary Forum in Brasília, Brazil. Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Committee on Defence, Interior, and Foreign Affairs in the Federal National Council (FNC), delivered a statement for the UAE delegation during a session titled "Brics Parliamentary Action in Search of New Paths for Economic Development." Sara Mohammad Falaknaz, an FNC Member, was also part of the delegation.
Dr. Al Nuaimi highlighted that the international order established after World War II is experiencing significant changes. He pointed out that economic justice is under threat as economic tools are often used to serve narrow interests rather than promoting balance and cooperation. He stressed that BRICS nations must remain united around key principles like fair trade and inclusive development.

In his remarks, Dr. Al Nuaimi emphasised two core pillars: adhering to BRICS' founding principles and focusing on genuine partnerships for economic development. These pillars are crucial for guiding collective action and maintaining cohesion among member countries. He noted that identifying new paths for economic growth amid global challenges is a significant endeavour.
Dr. Al Nuaimi stated that parliaments have roles beyond legislation and oversight. They must ensure economic policies lead to real improvements in people's lives through initiatives with tangible social impacts. He stressed that development should not focus solely on profit but aim to create a humane economy supporting marginalised communities and promoting social justice.
The ultimate goal of development, according to Dr. Al Nuaimi, should be establishing an economy that supports all regions and populations, including those in Africa, Asia, or Latin America. He underscored the importance of ensuring no region or population is left behind in the pursuit of economic growth.
Dr. Al Nuaimi concluded by affirming the necessity of building trust among BRICS nations while staying true to their founding principles. Launching impactful economic initiatives is essential for achieving a fairer, more cooperative, and prosperous future for everyone involved.
