UAE President Sheikh Mohamed And Sultan Haitham Of Oman Discuss Bilateral Relations And Regional Security
President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan engaged in discussions with His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman. The talks focused on enhancing the strong ties between the UAE and Oman. Both leaders explored avenues to deepen cooperation, aiming to serve mutual interests and support aspirations for progress and prosperity.
The meeting took place at Al Hosn Palace in Salalah during Sheikh Mohamed's visit to Oman. His Majesty Sultan Haitham warmly welcomed Sheikh Mohamed and his delegation. Their conversation highlighted the historic and enduring bonds between their nations, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening these ties.
During their discussions, the leaders addressed regional developments, including an Israeli attack on Qatar. They condemned the attack, expressing solidarity with Qatar. Both leaders supported any measures Qatar might take to protect its sovereignty, security, and citizens' wellbeing.
The attack was seen as a violation of national sovereignty and international law, posing a threat to regional stability. The UAE and Oman reaffirmed their stance against such actions, emphasising the importance of maintaining peace in the region.
The talks also covered progress within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Both leaders reiterated their dedication to strengthening Gulf integration. They supported initiatives that advance GCC objectives, aiming to deepen cooperation among member states for development and prosperity.
Sheikh Mohamed highlighted that UAE-Oman relations extend beyond politics and economics. He noted strong social and cultural connections rooted in history. The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sultan Qaboos bin Said laid the foundation for this relationship, which continues to thrive today.
Warm Welcome in Oman
Sheikh Mohamed expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality shown by Sultan Haitham during his visit. He appreciated the generous reception extended to him and his delegation throughout their stay in Oman.
The meeting was attended by several high-ranking officials from both countries. From the UAE side were Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan.
Oman's representatives included Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham bin Tarik Al Said, Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham Al Said, along with other ministers and senior officials.
A Departure Marked by Cordial Farewell
Later that day, Sheikh Mohamed departed Oman from Salalah's Royal Airport. Sultan Haitham bid him farewell alongside several ministers and senior officials. This visit underscored the deep-rooted fraternal ties between the two nations.
