The United Arab Emirates has revealed its vision for the national pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Kansai. This event will occur in Japan from April 13 to October 13, 2025. The UAE Pavilion, located in the Empowering Lives Zone, embodies a theme called Earth to Ether. This theme signifies the nation's journey from cultural roots to a future led by innovation and exploration.

Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of State and Commissioner of Expo Office - UAE, stated: "The UAE’s participation in World Expos has consistently reflected a commitment to dialogue, collaboration, and the pursuit of collective progress." The UAE's return to Japan marks 55 years since its first Expo participation. This reflects its ongoing commitment to fostering an inclusive global future. The focus will be on youth involvement with 24 Emirati youth ambassadors and 20 Japanese youth fluent in seven languages participating. Their role is crucial in conveying the UAE's impactful message.

The UAE Pavilion is more than just an architectural landmark; it invites global collaboration. It showcases how a nation rooted in heritage contributes to a flourishing future for all life on Earth and beyond. The pavilion's design merges tradition with innovation, featuring a forest of 90 rachis columns up to 16 meters tall.

Shihab Al Faheem, UAE Ambassador to Japan and Commissioner-General of the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, remarked: "UAE Pavilion reflects the country's approach to shaping the future and embodies resilience, openness, and the ability to strengthen global cooperation to achieve collective progress." He noted that returning to Osaka holds symbolic significance as Abu Dhabi first participated in World Expos there in 1970.

Strategic Partnerships and Economic Ties

The deep strategic ties between the UAE and Japan were highlighted during a media briefing. Non-oil trade between these nations reached approximately AED64 billion in 2024, marking a 32% increase from 2023. The UAE stands as Japan’s leading trading partner within the Arabian Gulf region.

Mariam Al Memari and Shaikha Al Ketbi have been appointed as Deputy Commissioner General of the Pavilion alongside Shihab Al Faheem. They aim to deliver an impactful national narrative while fostering meaningful global engagement through innovation and collaboration at Expo 2025.

Celebrating National Day on a Global Stage

A significant moment for the pavilion will be celebrating UAE National Day with high-profile activations and performances showcasing culture, leadership, and spirit. This event will highlight the UAE’s role as a connector committed to shared progress on an international stage.

The pavilion will host over 40 public programmes during its six-month duration. These include forums on sustainable technology, healthcare dialogues, youth empowerment activities, space exploration discussions, and technological innovation sessions aligned with Expo Osaka’s thematic weeks.

Official Partners Supporting Vision

The list of official partners supporting the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 includes ADNOC; PureHealth; Space42; and Department of Culture and Tourism. These partnerships reflect a united effort towards achieving collective progress through shared creativity.

The pavilion represents global collaboration by integrating Emirati architecture with Japanese woodworking expertise using agricultural date palm waste materials. It stands as a testament to partnership-driven sustainability efforts aimed at shaping new futures together.
